The move arose from the need to address the cross-institutional inefficiencies in the delivery of justice and maintenance of the rule of law in Kenya.<\/p>\n
The body is a high-level policymaking, implementation and oversight coordinating and reform of the justice system mechanism as reflected in its membership comprising of State and non-State actors from the justice sector.<\/p>\n
The NCAJ comprises of the Council, the Secretariat, Working Committees and Court Users Committees (CUCs). The Council is the highest governance organ and is responsible for coordinating the administration of justice, formulating policies and spearheading the reform agenda in the administration of justice while CUCs are forums that bring together players, both State and non-State, involved in the administration of justice at the local level.<\/p>\n
The Secretariat is responsible for technical work concerning the administration of justice, coordination assignments and provides linkages between the Council, Working Committees and CUCs. Lastly, the Working Committees which also comprise taskforces, spearhead policy and legal reforms of NCAJ assisted by the Secretariat.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
