2nd Annual National Conference on Criminal Justice Reforms – 2022

Theme: “TOWARDS A RIGHTS BASED CRIMINAL JUSTICE SECTOR”

The Conference Planning Committee of the 2nd National Conference on Criminal Justice Reforms is calling for abstract submissions.

Participants will be drawn from national, regional and international State and non-State institutions of the criminal justice sector and academia. The Conference allows for virtual or in person attendance.

– Final abstract submission deadline: 28 March 2022
– Results of abstract review returned to authors: Within 2 weeks on submission
– Full conference paper submission: 21 April 2022

The Conference Planning Committee welcomes papers from a wide variety of interdisciplinary and theoretical perspectives, and submission are organised into the sub-themes below.

1. Alternatives to Prosecutions Plea Bargaining, Diversion, and Alternative Justice Systems – ADR, Mediation, among others.
2. Active Case Management for Criminal Justice; Leveraging Technology and Lessons Learnt in the response to COVID-19.
3. Safeguarding the Rights of Special Interest Groups (Children, Persons with Mental Illness, Persons with Physical Disabilities, Intersex Persons).
4. Rights based approach to sentencing: examining indeterminate sentences and non-custodial sentences.
5. Electoral reforms: ensuring free and credible elections.
6. Addressing corruption within the criminal justice sector.

NOTE: Papers must be contextualised within the criminal justice reform agenda.

– Email content should include the following:

• Title and Full names
• Telephone number
• Affiliated institution
• The sub-theme under which the abstract falls
• Attach abstract in word format and PDF (maximum 250 words).

The information provided when submitting abstracts will be used for official communication of Letters of Acceptance, Invitation, and Conference Programmes.
