Dr M. Maranga, Executive Director of NCAJ, and Ms M. Ndumu, HOD Vulnerable Groups Department at NCAJ, joined state & non-state actors in the National Survivors Conference themed Building Trust-Survivor-Centred Interventions for Restoring Dignity & Justice.
In his presentation, Dr Maranga emphasised the importance of transitioning from providing justice for survivors to achieving justice with them. This means actively involving them, listening to their voices, and transforming their lives.
Key takeaways are that survivors’ rights to justice are non-negotiable, survivors are agents of change, and duty-bearers should provide dignified and survivor-centred services. Additionally, upscaling survivors’ rights and well-being is crucial.
