The National Council on the Administration of Justice (NCAJ) launched guidelines aimed at facilitating the expeditious trial of corruption and economic crimes in special magistrates’ courts thereby enhancing accountability and efficiency.

Chief Registrar of the Judiciary Winfridah Mokaya noted that corruption is not just an economic vice it is a direct assault on the rule of law, it distorts access to justice, and erodes public confidence in State institutions.

She added that as a central actor in the justice sector, the Judiciary must not only adjudicate corruption; we must actively dismantle the procedural bottlenecks that allow corruption to thrive.

“These guidelines offer a practical, enforceable framework that removes unnecessary delays, compels institutional coordination, and ensures that corruption cases are handled with both speed and integrity.” CRJ Hon Winfridah Mokaya during the launch of the Guidelines for the Expeditious Trial of Corruption and Economic Crime Cases in Special Magistrate’s Courts, Kenya.
